Going Green This Christmas

Just imagine if you were the product manager who was in charge of one of the world's simplest products: a pen. How successful could you be in this era of fancy smartphones and high-tech tablets? I would have been willing to say that your pen product had reached the end of its product life; however, the product managers over at Parker Pen have proven me wrong...

As a cross between a beanbag, a weighted medicine ball and a stress ball, the Ugi ball is the latest fitness ball. At 15 inches in diameter, it's a great add-on to home workouts. Plus, its attractive design means you don't have to hide it in the closet when you're done. Use it cute gadgets warm-ups, cardio, strength training (it's available from six to 12 pounds) and flexibility.

There are a number of these on the market but the least expensive I found features a soft brush, a cleaning spray and a wipe cloth. When will the tech fanatics finally get a taste of the Palm Pre? In the United States, Sprint Nextel has gained the exclusive rights to distribute this powerful and Innovative new tech gadgets to watch out for smart phone. By June of 2009, American mobile phone fans will be able to purchase their own Palm Pre units. In addition to the acclaim it has been gathering among fans and critics, the Pre actually won several awards at the recent Consumer Electronics Show held in Las Vegas in January 2009.

Now there is a downside. The downside is it does take time. So if you're already feeling overwhelmed and frazzled, yes this could feel like another huge to-do on your list.

I'm not saying that we should all start to sell our products in China (but maybe we should!). However, the Parker Pen product managers have shown us that it is always possible to reinvent our products in new markets. That should give hope to product managers everywhere...!
